Press Visit to Paphos: The British Guild of Travel Writers

- News -

As part of a wider strategy to strengthen Paphos’ presence in the British market, a group of respected travel journalists visited the destination to experience it first-hand and share its story with international audiences.

From 27 April to 1 May 2026, Paphos hosted members of the British Guild of Travel Writers as part of a targeted press trip organised by the Pafos Regional Board of Tourism, in collaboration with Constantinou Bros Hotels.

During the visit, participants also had the opportunity to experience the recently enhanced Asimina Suites Hotel by Constantinou Bros, which reopens this May, following a significant upgrade that introduces a new suite category and the stunning St Andrew’s Rooftop Bar.

Showcasing Paphos Through Experience

The programme was carefully designed to present the many dimensions of Paphos as a destination, combining culture, gastronomy, nature, and innovation.

During their stay, the visiting journalists explored some of the region’s most recognised landmarks, including the Birthplace of Aphrodite, the Tombs of the Kings, the Medieval Castle, and the Kato Paphos Archaeological Park. A walk through the Old Town revealed the area’s neoclassical charm and evolving urban character.

At selected sites, participants experienced the destination’s digital visitor applications, offering an enhanced and more interactive way to engage with Paphos’ rich history.

A Taste of Local Culture and Gastronomy

Beyond its landmarks, the programme placed strong emphasis on authentic local experiences. Visits to wineries and agritourism establishments offered insight into traditional production methods, regional flavours, and the quality of local Cypriot products.

Through these encounters, visitors gained a deeper understanding of the destination’s culinary identity and the people behind it.

The hosted experience also allowed guests to discover the upgraded hospitality of Asimina Suites Hotel, ahead of its 2026 reopening, including its elegant dining spaces, elevated bars, beachfront setting, and refined adults-only atmosphere.

Discovering the Natural Side of Paphos

The itinerary also highlighted the region’s natural landscape, with excursions to Polis Chrysochous and the Akamas Peninsula, including stops at Lara Bay, the Turtle Museum in Innia, the Smigies Nature Trail, and the Baths of Aphrodite.

These experiences underline Paphos’ appeal as a destination that blends coastal beauty with protected natural environments, offering opportunities for eco-conscious travel and outdoor exploration.

Strengthening International Visibility

As part of the visit, participants attended a sunset cocktail reception and dinner in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, reflecting the importance of this initiative at both industry and institutional level.

By hosting the British Guild of Travel Writers, Paphos continues to invest in meaningful partnerships that strengthen its international profile. Through the voices of experienced travel journalists, the destination is presented as a place that is not only rich in heritage, but also evolving, authentic, and diverse in its offering.

For Constantinou Bros Hotels, participation in this initiative reflects an ongoing commitment to supporting the promotion of Paphos as a year-round destination, while contributing to efforts that connect travellers with the true character of the region.
